When your child is teething, it’s never a happy time for anyone involved.  They gnaw through the tip of their bottle if you don’t happen to give them something to chew on in the knick of time.  Then there is always the screaming, because all that teething does hurt a bit.  All around, there isn’t a person in the household that won’t pay for it.  You could go out to the store and pick up your average teething ring, but that’s not the true geek way.  No, you have to stand out and do something in true geeky fashion.

Accent lamps and lighting are usually things you think of indoors, but not always outdoors.  Yes, we have our string lights and lights that are sticking out of the ground, but no accent lamps.  Well if you have a living area outdoors, you might as well give it the same love you would the inside.  Which means giving a little more creative lighting for your deck.  This firefly would show your love of summer nights and still give a soft glow while you’re outside enjoying the evening.

Perhaps you already know that Apple’s online store engraves the gadgets bought from there. That’s great, but they only offer text engraving. I have discovered Engrave, a Portland-based company that personalize gadgets, smartphones or laptops. They use laser engraving and I am telling you, their work is impressive.

01. Ultimate Time Machine
Those suffering from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder please take note, there is now a Horological time piece from MB&F that will satisfy any insecurities you may have regarding clocks and time. This timepiece has four dials, with detailed inscriptions to tell you stuff like “instantaneous jump hour, concentric retrograde minutes, retrograde date and bi-hemisphere moon phase.” That basically means the watch has two date and two time keeping dials and could even hold the mystery to the meaning of life. The price? How does US$59,000 sound to you?

Sony Ericsson made an ultra-mobile

So I really really liked the way Sony Ericsson cut its new handset, the T700. It resembles high-end portable gadgets from the 70s and 80s, like Philips' pocket voice recorders and Sony's own more expensive walkmans, but without being precious or silly about it. Commenter Clay places it as Gibson-like: "An Ono-Sendai would totally have buttons like that."
Since the same era, I've wanted a handheld computer — I think that might be my generation's flying car — so here's my fancy for a Sony Ericcsson UMPC or MID. I'd keep it simple, with modest specs, a tailored OS, day-long battery life, a capable word processor, a decent camera, 3G internet, plentiful storage and a damn good browser

Transparent Phone - LG GD900

We recently got a chance to look at the new and upcoming LG GD900. It comes with a very interesting transparent keypad that adds a lot of style points to the overall design. We have never seen anything like this and if this catches on we will surely see more of it. The LG GD900 has a thickness of just 13 mm and the keypad slides out and it is see through. This mobile phone simply looks very cool and keep in mind that this keypad will also glow in the dark. There is no mobile phone that is cooler than the LG GD900 at the moment in terms of design (well, that is just our personal opinion). This phone should appear in the second quarter of this year and basically all we know about it is that there are 2 cameras, HSDPA, might have a headphone jack and Dolby Music.

Bluetooth Laser Keyboard

Bluetooth Laser Keyboard

Isn't it a little depressing every time you watch star trek or star wars and see all these cool things that we still can't buy today?  Well I found something that I always wanted to have, that we can actually buy today!

I remember when I saw the movie Hackers and near the end of the movie, The Plague (Fisher Stevens) was typing on a computer keyboard that was being projected onto the table.  It was the first introduction for me to this amazing keyboard I thought was just amazing, as well as my first introduction to Angelina Jolie (Kate Libby aka Acid Burn).  Although it didn't look like it would be the most comfortable and ergonomic keyboard, and although the movie was extremely full of cheese, I think everyone can agree they wanted that keyboard!  The wait is over!  And for me it arrived today!

The Bluetooth Laser Keyboard is a small compact device that can project a keyboard onto any flat surface you choose.  Once projected, you can customize the sounds that the keyboard clicks make, giving you the complete Hackers experience (*grin*)!   I personally can’t wait to put this bad boy in my carryon bag and whip it out to type emails while I wait for hours for my delayed flights.  The device projects  63 keys and is a full sized QWERTY keyboard!  The device itself is about 3.5 inches high so it can literally fit in your shirt pocket, and set up with your blackberry!  Super Cool!  Ok at this point my wife is laughing at me for being such a geek.  But it’s cool!

When I first started using it I was a little bit worried that it would not allow me to type as fast as most keyboards, but I was mistaken, this thing can fly and has multiple key support.  The kit includes the charger, the main display device, rechargeable batteries, and a travel kit!  I wouldn't recommend this as your daily keyboard (I'm typing this article with it and I miss the padding and "give" a normal keyboard provides), but for some fun, as well as some practical benefits while you’re on the road, this thing is great!  I'll be using this on my trip to Moncton next week!  You can buy one if you like at I-Tech.

Green Roof Art Building

new Sony-Ericsson PSP

Over the last year I have heard a couple of rumors floating about regarding the Sony PSP mobile phone. Currently the ideas are just concept which has inspired the picture above to be created. As can be seen it takes the current Sony Ericsson square looking type phone and includes a large screen and controlls. I am not sure if this concept or any concept will go ahead for the PSP phone, but we can hope for it. The idea could do real well if a cybershot camera, walkman type phone and PSP could be crammed in to the same package. All it would then need is wireless and VoIP and all would be perfect.
